BIO

Mario Medina is a Mexican photographer and poet. His approach as an artist is based on an exploration exercise based on a poetics of detail. His projects are images of various environments where humanity and animals have intervened in some natural space on our planet.

In this way, his aesthetic approach is based on the intention of writing with light in order to encourage meditations on the ways in which, as humans, we coincide and share with other forms of life, reflections that are articulated in a pictorial language and a poetic language of free and short verse, allegorical metaphors and existential maxims. Each of his pieces is made up of a photograph to which a unique poetic text corresponds, both under the same title.

The creative development of his collections follows the mission of communicating to the spectators positions, ideas, feelings and intuitions about our relationship with the territory and with art; among other themes that the artist links to the possibility of a writing that results from the opposing tendencies of illumination and obscuration.

Mario Medina is the winner of 2nd place in the World Poetry Contest, an award given by The World Academy of Arts & Culture and the World Congress of Poets. As a poet, he is the author of the collection of poems Silencio Gregario and part of his poetry appears in the collective publications ANTOLOGÍA POÉTICA (2022) and ANTHOLOGY (2019), where his poems have been translated into English and Chinese.
